Virginia Parent Council
Do you know a parent – or are you a parent – who…
-
Desires to be an advocate for children and families?
-
Communicates effectively with others?
-
Wants to share previous experiences?
The Virginia Parent Council provides a parent voice in planning and implementing family services in support of child abuse prevention programming throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Virginia Parent Council is seeking parents who have received family support services who wish to help by being volunteer representatives of parents throughout Virginia.
Parents on the VPC have an opportunity to expand their skills and become part of a network that ensures a voice for Virginia’s parents.
The VPC meets once a month by phone and at least once a year in person. Volunteers receive a stipend for participating on the calls and reimbursement for any expenses they may incur as a result of their participating in any activities of the VPC.
For more information and to request an application, contact Julie Rivnak-McAdam, Families Forward Virginia Parent Leadership and Engagement Specialist @ jmcadam@familiesforwardva.org or (804) 359-6166 ext. 311
The Virginia Parent Council has developed a few family activity resources:
calendar #3 of Family activities
calendar #2 of family activities
Some suggestions are for activities that can be planned throughout the week to create memories together. Others are suggestions for one daily activity.
